REBEL COMMANDERS TO REPRESENT USA AT 2007 SPECIAL OLYMPICS

Bowling Green, Ky. -  The Rebel Commanders conquered Southern Kentucky basketball in 2006.  Their mission for next year – conquering the world.

The Rebel Commanders women’s basketball team has been chosen to represent the United States in the 2007 Special Olympics World Summer Games to be held in Shanghai, China from Sept. 29 – Oct. 15.  More than 10,000 athletes and coaches from 150 different countries are expected to participate in the event.

Bob Belcher, special populations coordinator for Warren County Parks and Recreation and coach of the Rebel Commanders, estimates it will cost between $20,000 and $25,000 to send his team to China.  “It’s an extraordinary opportunity for these ladies,” Belcher said.  “We are doing everything we can to make this trip possible.”
