Halloween Events
Tour Bowling
Green this Halloween by following the “Reel Sites, Real
Scary: John Carpenter Driving Tour” and enjoy the local
places and streets that pop up in some of his classic horror films
like Halloween and The Fog. Also, see some real life sites associated
with the filmmaker from when he lived in Bowling Green during
his childhood. Brochures are available at our Visitor Information
Centers; I-65 exit 22 on Three Springs Road and I-65 exit 28 inside
the National Corvette Museum lobby. They are also available at
Carpenter’s former home across from Hilltop Shops, behind
the Kentucky Museum & Library.

Skeleton’s
Lair Haunted Woods, located 13 miles out Cemetery Road,
opens at dusk every Friday and Saturday beginning September 26,
plus Thursday, October 30 through November 1. So scary, you may
just pee your pants... but don't worry, you won't be the first!
It's South Central KY's most terrifying Halloween event that you
don't want to miss... the 9th annual Skeleton's Lair Haunted Woods
and NEW Hayride! Join in the tradition any Friday or Saturday
beginning the last weekend in September through November 1 with
the screams starting at dusk each night. People drive across the
state and beyond to brave over 10 acres of spooktacular, interactive
scenes in the Haunted Woods with live actors guiding the way,
or should we say, chasing you in the right direction. This year,
see a special scene commemorating the 30th Anniversary of John
Carpenter's Halloween as Bowling Green honors the former resident
and master of horror, plus special Halloween cast appearances
on select nights. Real thrill-seekers can also go through the
Darkzone Mystery Maze and hope to find your way out. New this
year- a good, old-fashioned Hayride to calm your nerves! You get
all three attractions for one price of $18 for adults, $12 for
children 12 and under!! A portion of proceeds go to the South
Central KY Chapter of the American Red Cross. Look for special

Lair Haunted Woods is the kid-friendly PumpkinFest
first two Saturdays in October from 11 am – 3 pm. There
will be pumpkin-decorating everyone gets to take home, face painting,
a daylight tour of the haunted woods, refreshments, and photo
opportunities. Cost is $5 per person.
Fountain Square Players presents, Frankenstein
written by Victor Gialanella based on the novel written by Mary
Shelly and directed by Bill Green at The Phoenix Theater located
at 545 Morris Alley. Dates and Times: October 2-4, beginning at
8:00 PM, and October 5, beginning at 3:00 PM. Cost: $12 - adult,
$10 - senior/student, $8- children (under 12). Tickets can be

Synopsis: Set in 19th century Switzerland, this classic tale of
horror and suspense details the ill-fated experiments of young
Dr. Frankenstein as he attempts to fathom the secrets of life
and death. Purchasing cadavers from two unsavory grave robbers,
he gives life to a creature both hideous and touching and so physically
powerful and mentally twisted that he soon brings death or destruction
to all who stand in his way.

Halloween
Fest ’08 will be Saturday, October 18th at Preston
Miller Park. Festivities will begin at 11 am and go until 1 pm.

KOA Campgrounds
hosts a Haunted Campground with sites being decorated
by campers and prizes being awarded October 17 & 18, 24 &
25 and 31. There will
be hayrides and minigolf for $5.00 with some other added ideas
to be announced before Oct. 1st. The miniature golf course
is open from 7 am- 7 pm with the fun beginning at 6:30 pm on Fridays

The 8th
Annual Bellewood Halloween Hustle is October 18, 2008
at Kereiakes Park. Registration is at 7 am, the 5K run is at 8
am, the 3K walk begins at 9 am, and the Kids Dash kicks off at
9:15 am. This is a benefit for Bellewood Presbyterian Homes for

Visit Chaney's Dairy Barn thru
October for a walk through their corn maze. Car's cows have gotten
out, and visitors are tasked with finding their way through the
Chaney Maze to help round them up. Times for
the maze: Mon - Thurs 11am to 8pm; Fri and Sat 11am to 9pm; Sun
12pm to 6pm (Flashlights are needed after dark). *Cost: ages 5

Take a Haunted
Hill tour of Western Kentucky University's most notoriously
haunted buildings October 28, 29, and 30. Tours are led by students
from Lambda Pi Eta, a communications honor organization, and depart
every 15 minutes between 6 and 9:30 pm. Just meet at the Helm
Library by the Centennial Fountain to hear some chilling tales
of former students and workers who have mysteriously left their
mark. Tours are $5 per person, $3 for students, and proceeds support

Festival at Kentucky Down Under is in October, and visitors
can choose between regular tours and spooky Halloween tours. Open
from 9 am- 4 pm each day, there will also be contests and prizes.

Spookout
Weekend at Barren River Lake State Resort Park is October
17-19, 2008 and includes a night hike, costume contests, pumpkin
roll and storytelling with John Tierney. Other activities will
be scheduled throughout the day. The night hike will be on Friday
night at 7:30 p.m, and the other activities will take place throughout
the day on Saturday. The storytelling with John Tierney will take

The “Walk
of Terror” in Cave City will begin at dark every
Saturday in October. Presented by the Cave City Fire Department,
the walk kicks off behind South Central Bank and costs $5 per

Haunted
Asylum in Morgantown is open Friday and Saturday nights
in October. Located around Morgantown Square, cost is $10 for
adults and $5 for children 12 and under.
