2007 Halloween Events

Tour Bowling Green this Halloween by following the “Reel Sites, Real Scary: John Carpenter Driving Tour” and enjoy the local places and streets that pop up in some of his classic horror films like Halloween and The Fog. Also, see some real life sites associated with the filmmaker from when he lived in Bowling Green during his childhood. They will also be available at Carpenter’s former home across from Hilltop Shops, behind the Kentucky Museum & Library.

Skeleton’s Lair Haunted Woods, located 13 miles out Cemetery Road, opens at dusk every Friday and Saturday in October, plus Sunday, October 28 through Wednesday, October 31. Cost is $12 for adults, $6 for children 12 & under, and $3 extra for the Dark Zone Mystery Maze. A portion of the proceeds benefits American Red Cross. Also at Skeleton’s Lair Haunted Woods is the kid-friendly Pumpkin Fest every Saturday in October from 11 am – 3 pm. There will be pumpkin-decorating, face painting, a daylight tour of the haunted woods, refreshments, and photo opportunities. Cost is $5 per person.

Halloween Fest ’07 will be Saturday, October 20th at Preston Miller Park. Festivities will begin at 11 am and go until 3 pm. An outdoor trick or treating event with free candy giveaways, activities, and more. Visit www.wbko.com for more information.

During the entire month of October, KOA Campgrounds hosts ‘Spooky Mini-Golf.’ Open to the public at $4 per person, the miniature golf course is open from 7 am- 7 pm with the fun beginning at 6:30 pm on Fridays & Saturdays as the course stays open late. The 8th Annual Bellewood Halloween Hustle is October 20 at Kereiakes Park. Registration is at 7 am, the 5K run is at 8 am, the 3K walk begins at 9 am, and the Kids Dash kicks off at 9:15 am. The Nightmare at Cambridge Square Haunted House at Imagination Stations is open every Friday- Sunday in October with daily operation beginning October 22. Visit Chaney's Dairy Barn thru October 31 for a walk through their corn maze. This year's Chaney Maze will be a map reading experience that will take you all over the state of Kentucky. It has core content good for 4th and 5th grades teaching Kentucky regions and cardinal directions. A great activity for the family or your school group! Haunted Asylum in Morgantown is open Friday and Saturday nights in October. Located around Morgantown Square, cost is $10 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under.
