LINE UP ANNOUNCED FOR BOWLING GREEN'S
CITIZENS FIRST HOLIDAY CLASSIC

Tournament Returns December 21-23

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – High school basketball teams from across the state of Kentucky and one from Tennessee will meet in Bowling Green December 21-23 for the Citizens First Holiday Classic. Now in its fourth year, the tournament, presented by Martin Dodge-Jeep-Chrysler, allows participants to play four games during the three-day event in a championship format.

Tournament host Bowling Green High School in addition to Warren East and Allen County Scottsville will represent Region 4 in this year’s Citizens First Holiday Classic. Region 5 teams Hart County and Elizabethtown will make the short drive to compete while Doss High School travels from Louisville and Morristown East High School travels from Tennessee near Knoxville. Other Citizens First Holiday Classic participants include North Hardin Christian, Madison Southern, Madison Central, Mercer County, and Graves County. See the tournament schedule here.

“We have teams from Ohio, Louisiana, Tennessee and Kentucky on a waiting list to play in the Citizens First Holiday Classic,” event organizer D.C. Clement said. “The flexibility of being able to use both gyms at BGHS simultaneously, paired with all that the city of Bowling Green has to offer, has helped this tournament grow in popularity,” Clement explained.

Title sponsor Citizens First is joined again by Martin Dodge-Jeep-Chrysler in support of the tournament, along with host hotel Holiday Inn University Plaza and hospitality sponsors Buffalo Wild Wings. Other sponsors include Thompson’s Trophy, Booth Fire & Safety, Express Printing, Signature Signs, and the Bowling Green Area Convention & Visitors Bureau.

“The continued support of Citizens First and the community is what’s made this tournament so successful,” Clement said. “In return, it offers area residents a chance to see some great competition from teams we normally wouldn’t see throughout the year.”
