Bureau Hopes Program Encourages Hotel Guests to Stay Longer
BOWLING GREEN,
Ky. – Overnight visitors in Warren County can now
learn the history of Fountain Square Park, preview several Bowling
Green restaurants, and see scenes from area attractions right in
their hotel room. Residents interested in viewing the show do not
have to check-in to get a chance to see it though. The Bowling Green
Area Convention & Visitors Bureau will premiere City Vision,
the visitor information show, to the public on Thursday, May 8,
from 4-6 p.m. at the L&N Depot following a dedication ceremony
for The Historic Railpark and Train Museum’s theater.
City Vision, a 30-minute
program, written by BGACVB staff and produced by Peridot Pictures
of Bowling Green, introduces visitors to the variety of activities
they can enjoy while in the area. Hosted by two local television
personalities, it mixes entertaining, reporter-like segments with
advertorial style portions taking viewers on a virtual tour around
town.
The BGACVB created the
visitor information show at the request of hoteliers who thought
their guests might be inclined to stay longer or return sooner due
to the program. “City Vision is yet another guest service
offered by hotels and a way the CVB can inform area visitors,”
explained BGACVB Marketing Director Katie Frassinelli. “The
nearly 30-page Visitor’s Guide and our website, visitbgky.com,
provide a wealth of information to those tourists who are already
intending to stay, but now City Vision allows us to reach those
guests who simply may be passing through or here on business.”
The program will be updated
regularly as attractions expand, new video footage is acquired,
and major events are scheduled. Hotel guests will also see a ‘ticker’
along the bottom of the screen that allows each individual property
to publish welcome messages, special amenities or other information.
Thursday’s premiere will include free hot dogs, popcorn and
coke floats to celebrate the show’s debut and kickoff National
Tourism Week, which is May 10-18. Area residents unable to attend
the premiere can tune in to the city’s Insight Channel 4 to
view the show. A programming schedule is available online at www.bgky.org/cia/channel4.php.
