New Automotive Event Slated for Next October

Goodguys Bringing Classic Cars to Kentucky

Bowling Green, Ky. -- The Goodguys Rod & Custom Association will host its first Kentucky show at Beech Bend Raceway Park next October. The Goodguys 1st Nostalgia Nationals is one of two new events added to the 2008 schedule for this hot rod and custom automotive group.

Taking place October 17-19, the weekend will feature nearly 1,500 American-made hot rods, custom cars and trucks, classics, street machines and muscle cars from 1972 or prior. Spectators can watch these candy- colored automobiles cruise the track, with nearly 300 participating in vintage drag racing in several categories throughout the weekend. For an up close view, fans can wander the ‘show n’ shine’ display row and see the inner workings and parts necessary for custom status.

“For years Goodguys has heard what a wonderful facility Beech Bend Raceway Park is and how car people and racers love attending events there,” Goodguys Public Relations Director John Drummond said. “We’re proud to bring a Goodguys event to the track and the city of Bowling Green. We hope to make the Goodguys Nostalgia Nationals a long standing local tradition.”

Beech Bend Park owner Dallas Jones is looking forward to this first-time event and new addition to the Raceway’s annual schedule. “We are flattered to have such a highly regarded group as Goodguys want to hold an event at Beech Bend, and I think the community will really enjoy seeing these beauties,” Jones said.

Spectators can also expect live entertainment, commercial exhibits with products for sale and several themed parking areas such as “Youngguys” for rodders 25 and younger, “Ya Gotta Drive ‘Em” for cars traveling over 500 miles to the event, and “Homebuilt Heaven” for those cars built by the owners themselves.

As the world’s largest rodding association with nearly 70,000 members, Goodguys produces and promotes over 20 events each year from coast to coast and celebrates 25 years of organizing meets in 2008. Based out of northern California, its March Meet in Pleasonton, CA is the largest Vintage Drag Race in the world attracting tens of thousands of spectators and over 500 racecars.

General admission tickets for next October’s event will be $55 for the whole weekend or $20 per day. Children ages 7-12 will be just $6 per day. For more details on the 1st Nostalgia Nationals or the Goodguys Rod and Custom Association, visit www.good-guys.com or call 925-820-8241.
