CITIZENS
FIRST HOLIDAY CLASSIC SCORES TOP TEAMS
Martin
Dodge-Jeep-Chrysler Pitching in Sponsorship
BOWLING GREEN,
Ky. –
The Citizens First Holiday Classic presented by Martin Dodge-Jeep-Chrysler
will be December 19-21, 2007 with some of the state’s best
high school basketball players hitting the courts. This is the third
year for the boys’ regional tournament hosted by Bowling Green
High School Boy’s Basketball Program and the first time another
Warren County team is invited.
The 2007 Citizens First
Holiday Classic will feature 2006 KHSAA Sweet 16 participant and
the 3rd Region pre-season favorite, Owensboro, plus 2nd Region pre-season
favorite, Madisonville North Hopkins, as well as Bowling Green,
Greenwood, Barren County, Todd County, Central Hardin, Cumberland
County, Caldwell County, Grayson County, Pineville, and Hazel Green
High School from Alabama.
This year’s tournament
features a Championship Game format, rather than the complete round-robin
format used before. Each team will play four games during the three-day
event in either the Bowling Green High School arena or auxiliary
gym.
Title sponsors, Citizens
First Bank, stepped in last year with a three-year commitment of
support for this showcase of student-athlete talent. Martin Dodge-Jeep-Chrysler
has also joined forces in sponsorship this year, allowing hospitality
and assistance for the twelve teams playing in the tournament.
“This tournament keeps getting more successful every year
with great competition,” Bowling Green Area Convention &
Visitors Bureau Sports Director Amy Cardwell said. “We are
very happy to host these teams, coaches and basketball fans from
across the state, and even further, during the holidays, and hope
local residents will support and encourage these talented young
athletes as well.”
