Bowling Green Celebrates
National Tourism Week

Bowling Green –  Did you know over 2.2 million visitors spend over $252 million in Warren County every year?  National Tourism Week is May 12-20, and the city of Bowling Green has several events planned to celebrate one of the Commonwealth’s largest industries.

Representatives from the mayor’s office and the Warren-County judge executive’s office will proclaim next week national tourism week on the steps of City Hall on Friday, May 10 at 10:30 a.m.

The Hospitality Unbridled Spirit Awards will be held at the Capitol Rotunda in Frankfort on Tuesday, May 15 at 12:30 p.m. EST.  One individual from each of the Commonwealth’s nine tourism regions will receive an award in recognition of his or her contribution to Kentucky’s travel and tourism industry.  The recipient for the Cave Region is a Warren County business owner.

Representatives from Beech Bend Amusement Park, National Corvette Museum, Lost River Cave, Kentucky Museum and Barren River Imaginative Museum of Science will be on WBKO’s AM Kentucky throughout next week discussing some of their new features and upcoming events.

Viewers can register on WBKO.com to win the National Tourism Week Vacation Giveaway.  One lucky winner will receive dinner for four at Chaney’s Dairy Barn, four passes to the National Corvette Museum, Lost River Cave and Beech Bend Amusement Park and an overnight stay at the new Hilton Garden Inn.  The winner will be announced May 18 live on AM Kentucky.

The Bowling Green Area Convention & Visitors Bureau in cooperation with the Bowling Green Area Attraction Association has provided the frontline staffs of local hotels and some restaurants and gas stations with passports allowing them and a guest free admission to area attractions.  If staff members visit all eight locations before June 30 and return their stamped passports to the Bowling Green Area CVB before July 6 they will be entered in drawings to win gift certificates and other prizes.
