Houchens / KHSAA Sweet 16 Spirit Contest

On behalf of Houchens Industries and Bowling Green, Kentucky, Congratulations on making it to the “Greatest Show in Hoops!” It has taken hard work and perseverance, but your team has made it all the way to the Houchens Sweet Sixteen Girls’ State Basketball Tournament. We hope you are as excited as we are about the upcoming competition.

So this year at the Houchens Sweet Sixteen Girls State Tournament we’ve switched things up for the school’s fans a little bit! In past years the principals from the two battling schools would participate in a 3 point shootout, well lucky for them we’ve decided to try something new. This year there will be a spirit contest between the two battling teams.

The rules are simple; each school must choose a spirit leader, or captain, to represent their school. At halftime of each game the spirit leader of the two schools will come down onto the E. A. Diddle basketball court and lead their fan section in a cheer. The judging will be based on appearance and how loud the schools fan section is. If your school wins Houchens Industries will present them with a 100$ IGA Visa card. As long as your girls basketball team wins you will have a chance to win more Visa cards.
