Bowling Green, Ky. – November 29, 2012 - The Bowling Green Area Convention & Visitors Bureau announces Telia Butler as its Public Relations Coordinator. The Bowling Green native graduated from Western Kentucky University in 2012 with degrees in News/Editorial Journalism and History.

Butler entered the tourism industry this summer and fall when she served as Lost River Cave’s Marketing & Communications Intern. Butler was active at WKU in the Student Publications office as a staff member of both the Talisman and College Heights Herald student-run publications. She was the Herald Opinion Editor during the spring of 2010, a Talisman writer for three years and the 2012 Talisman Managing Editor. Butler also interned part-time at the WKU Media Relations department. During any free time on the hill, she was an active member of the Honors College and Phi Alpha Theta National History Honor Society.

Butler is excited for the opportunity to work in a new environment and promote anything and everything Bowling Green has to offer. “I’ve lived in Bowling Green all my life and it’s my turn to start giving back to the community and promoting all the unique aspects of my city,” Butler said. “I love its small town, southern comfort feel with so many modern twists.”

Upcoming projects for Butler include introducing a quarterly newsletter of Bowling Green happenings and helping the Visitors Bureau transition during its re-branding process.
