Local retailers and restaurants have gotten creative to continue serving their customers since their storefronts had to close several weeks ago. From sweet treats and wine to fine cigars and gifts, there are many ways to shop local from the comfort of your home or car. Some retailers are offering delivery for the first time, while others are open for contactless, curbside pickup. Keep reading to learn about what some local businesses have to offer while you #SupportLocal while staying #HealthyAtHome.

SurPIEval Kits

Could you or a friend use some cheering up? Why not send a sweet treat from the Pie Queen of Bowling Green, who is selling SurPIEval Kits. You can order a kit on Boyce General Store's website and have it shipped to you — or to a pal who lives out of town. The box includes four mini pies (fudge, pb & fudge, pecan and Kentucky) and four sammies {PBsquared, brown sugar sammie, chew-chaca and oatmeal cream pie).

Tea Cookies

You can never have too many sweets, right? While you can't visit Riley's Bakery in person right now, you can order its famous tea cookies and have them shipped directly to you. Check out its website, where you can even order these delectables in the bakery's traditional pastels or custom colors.

Our friends at Mary Jane's Chocolates recently announced some big news — the store is moving from its current home on College Street to the heart of Fountain Square Park. You can still order some great chocolates for curbside pickup now before the new locale opens later this year.

Bowling Green Pipe & Cigar is offering local delivery of premium cigars, pipe tobaccos and accessories throughout Bowling Green and the surrounding area. While online ordering will be available soon, the store asks people 21 and older to either text or call 270-746-8700 or visit its Facebook page for more information on how to place an order. There is a $25 minimum, but no delivery fee.

Gifts & More

If you're looking for some entertainment to go with your online shopping, then tune in to Barbara Stewart Interior's Facebook Live videos. You'll see incredible merchandise and get a good laugh with Mindy and Susan! The store offers home goods, gifts and so much more, with curbside pickup and shipping options.

Relax and treat yourself

Be Happy Yoga & Salt Cave has moved its classes online — and it has moved its merchandise to curbside pickup. Let Be Happy help you relax at home with its Himalayan salt scrubs and lamps, as well as CBD and essential oils.

Fine pottery

Rickman Pottery is offering local delivery from its Etsy shop. Potter Mitchell Rickman has an incredible selection, ranging from Bowling Green and Team Kentucky mugs to vases, bowls and so much more. You can also make custom orders, but you need to make sure to have plenty of time for Rickman to create his art, if you're sending it as a gift.

Fine wines

Warren County is home to three wineries crafting delicious wines — Bluegrass Vineyard, Reid's Livery Winery and Traveler's Cellar Winery — that all offer shipping options from their websites, as well as local delivery options. Bluegrass Vineyard is also regularly at the SOKY Marketplace, while Reid's is available at the Community Farmer's Market. Why not have a wine tasting from the comfort of your home and try wines from all three? Need more than wine? Preservation Tasting Room & Bottle Shop and Blue Holler Brew Supplies are open and asking patrons to social distance while shopping.

Garden supplies

Jackson's Orchard is open Mondays-Saturdays for all of your planting needs. Concession stands and the playgrounds are closed, and shoppers are asked to practice social distancing. Check the orchard's Facebook page for a list of what's available — you can also call ahead and place your order for curbside pickup, and local delivery is available for a small fee. Jackson's also offers shipping across the country for many of its products on its website. Wild Bird & Nature Store is also offering curbside pickup, and The Garden Patch in Smiths Grove has its Selling Shed, where people can shop and make contactless payments (cash and checks only).

Vinyl & CDs

Need to add to your vinyl or music collection and have some new tunes to listen to while you shelter in place? Mellow Matt's Music & More is offering curbside pickup and shipping options. It's always a good time to add more music to your life.

These are just a handful of the Bowling Green-area businesses who have gotten creative to keep their stores running. You can find more stores offering shipping and curbside options here, including the gift shops for the National Corvette Museum and Historic RailPark & Train Museum. While we can't wait for our stores, hotels, restaurants and attractions to welcome visitors back to our community, we appreciate so many residents and future travelers finding ways to support local businesses until it's safe to travel again.
