Gear up for new fun in Bowling Green in 2015! Several attractions are making special additions. New major national events are coming to visit! Here’s a list of all the new #gearedforfun happenings in Hot Rod City, USA coming up in 2015:

-Beech Bend Park & Splash Lagoon welcomes five new rides for the 2015 season! Air Race takes riders on an amazing journey, replicating the experiences and sensations of an acrobatic airplane flight. Also coming is a beautiful carousel swing from Italian ride manufacturer, Bertazzon. The park also purchased a new children’s ride named “Monster Truck,” which will have kids squealing with delight as they pop wheelies, crush cars and climb over obstacles. The last two additions include a Sizzler and Tornado to replace existing versions of similar older rides. For more information and details on the rides, see the official press release here.

-The National Corvette Museum is officially re-filling the infamous sinkhole that was born February 2014 and swallowed eight prized Corvettes. The first rock ceremoniously was tossed in on December 29, 2014. Check out the progress made and details about the planned reopening of the Skydome for Labor Day 2015 here.

-The Downing Museum at the Baker Arboretum has officially opened to the public and showcases original Joe Downing artwork amidst a beautiful natural oasis. Officially opened in 2009 by appointment only as a part of The Baker Arboretum, the Downing Museum displays a vast collection of fine art by the late Joe Downing. The collection is free for the public to view and includes examples of his abstraction and experimentation with different media formats including leather, linen, canvas, old wood, metal, staples, and found objects. -Bowling Green is becoming an even bigger hub for national automotive events and will welcome 12 major auto shows, including several new shows to Beech Bend Raceway and the NCM Motorsports Park, including the Pontiac US Nationals in June, the Danchuk Tri-Five Nationals in August, the Camaro5 Fest in August and the GoodGuys 4th Nostalgia Nationals in September.

-The eclectic music scene in BG is getting a boost with even more festivals, including the Hilltopp Music Fest at the National Corvette Museum Amphitheater and the return of the Lost River Music Fest at the BG Ballpark. Both music fests are happening March 28! Look for updates later on a couple more music fests in the works.

Lodging news:

-The Holiday Inn University Plaza has been newly renovated with a heated indoor pool, fully equipped fitness room, Atrium Lounge, Hartland Cafe, and business center. Spacious guestrooms all feature high-definition, flat panel TVs.

-Opening in 2015 are two new hotel properties: Hyatt Place adjacent to WKU and downtown Bowling Green, and Fairfield Inn & Suites off I-65 Exit 22
