Aviation Heritage Park's 13th Annual Hangar Party is happening June 15 at the BG/WC Regional Airport. Tickets are all inclusive, providing admission to the air displays, meal, beverages, concert and dancing. All proceeds benefit the Aviation Heritage Park. At the BG Airport, gates open at 5 pm.
This year's theme is Breaking Barriers, and AHP is unveiling a restored Piper Cub in honor of Willa Brown — a Glasgow native who was the first African American woman to hold a US- issued commercial pilot’s license and master mechanic's license. During her career she co-founded the Coffey School of Aeronautics and trained many of the men who would go on to be the famed Tuskegee Airmen. Willa was a teacher, pilot, mechanic, activist, lobbyist, and the first African American officer of the Civil Air Patrol – the AHP is honored to have the opportunity to present her story at the Park.
