Come to the park Saturday, October 21, 10 am – 2 pm, for both the Drone Dash and Open Cockpit Day! It’s your once a year chance to get an up close look at all the park airplanes. The cockpits will be open for you to check out what is inside! Each plane in the park will have a docent on hand to tell the story of the plane and the famous heroes who flew those planes. You will be able to climb some steps and check out the interior of the plane.
Pictures are welcomed as you view the T-38 Talon honoring local astronaut Terry Wilcut. This Talon, #901, was flown by all the astronauts who flew the 6 Mercury missions through 1963, the 10 Gemini missions, and the Apollo program. The astronauts who have flown AHP’s Talon include Scott Carpenter, L. Gordon Cooper, Virgil I. “Gus” Grissom and Donald K. “Deke” Slayton, John H. Glenn, Jr., Walter M. Schirra, Jr. and Alan B.
