Side by Side VSA Art ExhibitVisit Website
A collaborative exhibition of artwork created by young artists with disabilities and local artists will be on display at the Kentucky Museum. Meet the artists at the reception on Saturday, April 13, from 2 PM - 4 PM in the Dorothy Grider Garden Gallery.
Students take a series of classes at the museum which are followed by one-on-one collaborative sessions with area artists. This enables student artists to explore the creative process as a group in small classes, in addition to receiving individual attention from a professional artist mentor. The exhibition includes the student's work, the artist's work and their collaborative pieces.
Side by Side, a statewide program, was created by VSA Kentucky in partnership with the Kentucky Museum. It is designed to offer a creative outlet for students, reinforce inclusiveness and positive self-image, and highlight the importance of arts education in the development of our young people. Additionally students have the opportunity to work alongside a community professional artist and see their work exhibited at the Kentucky Museum.
VSA Kentucky is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing inclusive arts and education programs for children, youth, and adults with disabilities, in addition to professional development for artists and teachers in schools and communities statewide.
