Bowling Green, Ky. – April 24, 2015 – The Nashville Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) awarded the Bowling Green Area Convention & Visitors Bureau an Award of Merit for New Media on Thursday night at the 29th Annual Parthenon Awards at the City Winery in Nashville. Presented annually, the Parthenon Awards recognize the area’s best public relations programs and projects.

The Award of Merit for New Media recognizes a public relations campaign effectively utilizing new, creative or unconventional use of technology, which may be in the implementation, evaluation or initial research phase of the program. Nashville’s PRSA Chapter includes 180 members and more than 200 entries were submitted to this year’s judging panel at the PRSA Las Vegas Chapter.

Receiving the award for its effective 2014 #gearedforgiveaways social media campaign, the CVB’s use of social media and destination marketing was celebrated.

The CVB’s destination rebranding efforts with Nashville-based destination marketing professionals ChandlerThinks in 2013 paved the way for a coordinated public relations and marketing effort launching the new destination brand tagline: “Geared for fun!”

“It’s an honor to receive recognition from peers in the public relations industry for the overwhelmingly positive, organic results of the CVB’s first comprehensive social media plan,” Telia Butler, Public Relations Manager at the Bowling Green Area CVB, said. “We’re continuing our #gearedforgiveaways social media promotions for 2015 with even larger prize packages and hoping for even better results.”

The #gearedforgiveaways social media campaigns feature free contests on the Bowling Green Area CVB social media pages. Typically held on a monthly basis, each contest is themed based on seasonal or current area events and features prize packages that include free Bowling Green hotel stays, free admission to special events, locally made trinkets, and miscellaneous surprises.
