BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – May 9, 2013 - As destinations across the country prepare for the upcoming tourist season and recognize National Tourism Week May 4-12, the Bowling Green Area Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB) will continue offering a free hospitality training program. The one-hour session, called V.E.T.T.E. (Very Enthusiastic Travel and Tourism Expert), is available three times throughout the summer beginning Tuesday, May 7.

The free program is offered to all frontline staff members of hotels, restaurants, attractions, gas stations, retail shops and any other area businesses that may assist travelers. The curriculum includes ways to keep visitors in town longer and boost the local economy with more spending.

“We continue to see the benefits of this program year after year,” CVB Marketing Director Marissa Butler said. “Our frontline hospitality employees are much more informed about how to answer questions and offer suggestions on things to do than before we introduced this specific training course.”

The first seminar will be at the KOA Campground on Three Springs Road on May 7 at 3 p.m. The remaining two will be held at the Bob Kirby branch of the Public Library on Iron Skillet Ct. on June 4 and July 9 at 3 p.m. Each seminar covers the same material, so interested persons need only select one date to attend. CVB Marketing Director Marissa Butler and Public Relations Coordinator Telia Butler will lead the sessions.

As a way of saying thank you for all their hard work throughout the year and as a reward for completing the program, participants will receive a V.E.T.T.E. training certificate and a ‘passport’ granting free admission for them and one guest to local attractions, including several in the Cave City area. Space is limited.

To register for the V.E.T.T.E. program, call the CVB at 270-782-0800 or send an email to info@visitbgky.com.
