Bowling Green, Ky.,—April 14, 2014—The Southeast Tourism Society has selected the 18th Annual Duncan Hines Festival as one of its Top 20 Events for July 2014.

The best events across the Southeast compete to receive the prestigious Top 20 Events designation. Events must have at least 1,000 in attendance and be in their third year of existence. Through a nomination process, STS chooses the Top 20 Southeastern events for each month of the year and publishes the list of winners quarterly.

To commemorate the life and legacy of Duncan Hines, the legendary man behind the cake mix, the annual Duncan Hines Festival is held every summer in Bowling Green. One of the most recognized brands in the United States, the Duncan Hines trademark supports a product line of over 60 baked goods and specialty items.

The 18th Annual Duncan Hines Festival will be held at Chaney’s Dairy Barn in Bowling Green on July 12, 2014. Festivities include the famed Adventures in Good Baking Contest, Uncle Duncan’s Duck Derby, live music, inflatables, and kids’ games.

Approximately two thousand people attended the Duncan Hines Festival in 2013, which is a fundraiser for local nonprofits hosted by the Bowling Green Junior Woman’s Club. The festival will be held in conjunction with a Chaney’s Ice Cream & a Movie night, where families watch a movie projected on the side of the barn for free.

Bowling Green is home to several Duncan Hines-inspired sites to visit along the way, including a “Recommended by Duncan Hines” exhibit at the Kentucky Museum on Western Kentucky University’s campus, the Duncan Hines Scenic Byway, and his gravesite.
