Bowling Green, Ky. – January 27, 2015 – The Dallas Jones family and Beech Bend Raceway were recently recognized as the NHRA (National Hot Rod Association) North Central Division Person of the Year at its annual awards banquet in Indianapolis last month.
Jay Hullinger, Division Director at NHRA North Central, said Jones has been working and promoting drag races for decades.
“Jones first started promoting drag races in Hardinsburg, Ky., and operated a track in Owensboro before purchasing Beech Bend Park in the mid-1980s,” Hullinger said.
Beech Bend Raceway Park will host several events this year: the 29th annual NHRA SportsNATIONAL OPEN May 23-24; the 13th Annual Holley NHRA National Hot Rod Reunion June 18-20 and the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series North Central Division Finals August 28-30.
NHRA North Central Division Person of the Year was the second major award received by Beech Bend Raceway during 2014. The first award was Track of the Year Award presented by NMRA (National Mustang Racers Association) at the PRI (Performance Racing Industry) Trade Show in December.
