Bowling Green, Ky. – March 1, 2016 – Cave Country Trails, Inc. (CCT) will be operating with Helen Siewers as its new Project Director starting today. Siewers is charged with handling databases and maintaining records of all the assets CCT currently has, seeking new opportunities for grants and fundraising, managing social media and marketing, plus working with the board of directors.

Siewers, of Bowling Green, also serves as the Executive Director of The Friends of Mammoth Cave National Park, which works in cooperation with the National Park Service, to fund projects and programs that protect, preserve, and enhance the natural and cultural resources, and the visitor experience.

One of Siewers’ first project goals will be continuing to promote the remaining two Cave Country Trails Community Trail Planning Workshops. The next session will be held at the Hart County Fairgrounds this Thursday, March 3, from 5 to 9 p.m. The Warren County workshop will be at the Warren County Public Library Bob Kirby Branch on Thursday, March 31, from 4:30 to 8 p.m. Refreshments will be provided. Trail users and the general public are encouraged to attend the workshops.

“The goal of the workshops is to gather community input and ideas to develop a long-range vision and some short-term goals,” Siewers said. “In particular, we hope to hear from workshop participants about opportunities to expand trails beyond the national park to neighboring communities and other parks.”
