Frankfort, Ky.—February 10, 2014—The Kentucky Travel Industry Association (KTIA) has selected the 16th Annual Southern Kentucky Book Festival as one of its 2014 Spring Top 10 Festivals & Events.

Held April 25-26 in Bowling Green at the Carroll Knicely Conference Center, the SOKY Book Fest is a celebration of the love of reading that features approximately 150 adult and children’s authors.

The premier headliner is Charlaine Harris, the New York Times bestselling author of the Sookie Stackhouse series on which HBO’s True Blood series is based.

Friday is Children’s Day, where a thousand students grades K-12 get the chance to meet their favorite authors, participate in dramatic and musical performances and use their imaginations in a creative make-and-do area. Also Friday are 75-minute sessions presented to the public by famous authors as part of the Kentucky Writer’s Conference.

Authors are available to meet the public and autograph their books on Saturday. All books signed must first be purchased at the book festival.

A panel of impartial judges selects the KTIA Top 10 Festivals & Events for each season. Criteria for selection include popularity of the event, its impact on the local tourism economy, plus cultural and historical significance.

All the 2014 Spring Top 10 Festivals & Events can be found on the KTIA website and will be featured in an upcoming article in the March issue of Kentucky Monthly magazine.

KTIA is a 930-member statewide association representing all sectors of the state’s tourism and travel industry. As the voice for the travel industry, this organization is committed to promoting and strengthening the common objectives of our travel partners.
