Bowling Green, Ky. – April 19, 2016 –The Southeast Tourism Society (STS) has designated two Bowling Green area events as Top 20 Events in the Southeast in 2016. Nominated by the Bowling Green Area Convention & Visitors Bureau, Ice Cream & a Moovie at Chaney’s Dairy Barn was named an STS Top 20 Event for July and Holley LS Fest was designated a top September event.
Saluting the region’s best events since 1985, STS selects 20 events per month to be publicized throughout the United States. Events considered for this recognition must be at least three years old and have an attendance of at least one thousand.
“The STS Top 20 Festival and Event list is an excellent guide for the Southeast’s visitors and residents. Events selected represent the best, and often most unique, activities in our region,” Bill Hardman, president and CEO of the Southeast Tourism Society, said.
Ice Cream & a Moovie at Chaney’s Dairy Barn plays family-friendly movies on the barn side every other weekend on Friday and Saturday nights, May 27 thru Sept. 17. Admission is free and guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs. Movie nights have themes, like Ag Night and Duncan Hines Festival Night. Find the complete schedule at www.chaneysdairybarn.com or call 270-843-5567.
“We’re honored that Ice Cream & a Moovie has been designated an STS Top 20 Event and are blessed to be able to offer this event to families in the Bowling Green area for twelve years running,” Carl Chaney, owner of Chaney’s Dairy Barn, said. “More than 7,000 people attended last summer and we’re looking forward to working with our sponsors to make 2016 a bigger year.”
The Holley LS Fest, slated for September 9-11, is a celebration of everything and anything powered by the GM LS engine. The LS engine debuted in the 1997 C5 Corvette and has been utilized in numerous popular GM vehicles since. Last year LS Fest brought 671 participant cars and over 10,000 spectators to historic Beech Bend Raceway.
“LS Fest is a unique event in that there is something here for every type of automotive enthusiast,” Blane Burnett, Holley’s public relations and event coordinator, said. “Spectator heads are always on a swivel trying to catch all of the action, which includes drag racing, autocross, 3S Challenge, drifting, show-n-shine classes, an engine swap challenge, dyno challenge and more.”
