VisitBGKY created a music playlist on YouTube & Spotify to celebrate Bowling Green’s rich and diverse music culture and help tell the destination’s story through song.

The launch of the playlist celebrates “Evergreen” the new single debuted by Moon Taxi and Grammy-nominated Molly Tuttle, that is written as a tribute to Bowling Green, KY. Moon Taxi’s guitarist Spencer Thomson is a Bowling Green native. Thomson, along with many Bowling Green musicians, is one of many reasons why people choose to visit the city and celebrate its music history and culture. VisitBGKY wants visitors to immerse themselves in the destination’s story musically while also instilling pride in the local community. The launched playlist provides a sense of place and features multiple songs that have direct ties to the city and/or align with the destination’s personality.

“There’s just something special about Bowling Green’s music scene, not only the homegrown talent that have gone on to play international stages but also the affect this town has on musicians simply passing through,” said Marissa Butler, VisitBGKY’s Hospitality Services Director. “We hear it time and time again, Bowling Green is just this magical, musical crossroads that leaves a mark.”

“Evergreen” is the newest song to debut a musical love letter to Bowling Green, KY. Along with Moon Taxi and Molly Tuttle’s new single, The Everly Brothers sang “A man in Kentucky sure is lucky to live in Bowling Green” in their 1967 hit "Bowling Green." Those lyrics still remain a source of pride for residents just as the words set the stage for any traveler who loves American music with deep roots. This small city owns an outsize place in the history of country, jazz, bluegrass, old-time music, gospel, and roots rock, as well as nurturing a vibrant current music scene. Exploring the creative past and present of this destination located an hour north of Nashville offers visitors a dynamic addition to favorite attractions such as the nearby National Corvette Museum and Mammoth Cave National Park. Also, Bowling Green and Southern Kentucky’s rich musical heritage is the subject of an exhibit in development.

As the official destination marketing organization for Bowling Green and Warren County, VisitBGKY’s mission is to promote tourist and convention activity to generate economic impact by promoting and developing the region as a welcoming destination for visitors.
