Bowling Green, Ky. – Ninety-three new wayfinding signs are being installed across Bowling Green in April, replacing aging signs that highlighted only a fraction of the tourist attractions in the city and county.

Color-Ad of Manassas, Va., manufactured and is installing the signs, weather permitting, which feature the historic fountain at the heart of Fountain Square Park. It will take several days to get the signs in place.

Eight attractions were featured on the first wayfinding signage system, and other attractions were added over the years. The Bowling Green Area Convention & Visitors Bureau wanted to design new signs that add more locations to the wayfinding system. The city of Bowling Green partnered with the CVB to have a cohesive, tourist attraction signage system.

“We are thrilled that the installation of these signs is underway,” said Vicki Fitch, Executive Director of the Bowling Green Area CVB. “Some of our attractions are downtown or downtown-adjacent. Most of our current wayfinding signs have faded with age, so we are looking forward to showcasing our destinations on vibrant, new signs.”

The city of Bowling Green partnered with the CVB because the wayfinding signs are an important piece of the city’s tourism, said Katie Schaller-Ward, Bowling Green’s Interim City Manager and City Clerk/Assistant City Manager. Schaller-Ward was one of the city officials who was a driving force behind the partnership.

“These new wayfinding signs will be a great addition to Bowling Green, especially as we continue our renovations downtown and around Fountain Square Park,” Schaller-Ward said.

Bowling Green Mayor Bruce Wilkerson added, “These signs are much needed. We are glad more of our community’s attractions are able to be highlighted.”
